Winter in Africa

Yes, winter actually happens here - hard to believe after two months of sun and intense heat. Our last day in the Drakensberg was wet and cold, and you'll see snow on the mountains in one of the pics. It's misty with beautiful muted colours, like Scotland (or so I imagine!). People on the roads sported a great variety of blankets, umbrellas and other gear to try to stay warm and dry. The Friday roadside markets that spring up at every rural school still went on, albeit in muddy conditions.
